Dr. Jeffrey M. Long received his doctorate in optometry from Northeastern State University after attending the University of Oklahoma as well as NSU for his undergraduate degree in Vision Science. While in school he was very active. As a third year student he was awarded the American Optometric Student Association member of the year and in his fourth year he was selected to the American Optometric Association PAC board of directors where he served with 10 doctors and 1 lobbyist nationally.
Upon graduation he led a medical mission to Mexico and oversaw a dozen optometry students who performed over 800 eye exams and gave glasses to the local people. Also, in his first year after graduation he was selected (and trained) to be one of 20 Gold Standard Examiners nationally for a National Eye Institute study to help children in the Head Start program. He then became an associate of one of the largest practices in Oklahoma for ten years where he was Director of Continuing Education. Dr. Long maintained an interest in medical mission work and has been involved in serving the people of Mexico and Ecuador. January of 2012 he opened the doors to Dr. Jeff Long’s Children & Family Eye Care with his two sons Colby and Blake.
He currently has a patent pending on a system that allows him to provide brand new glasses to those in need. These glasses are made to the exact prescription needs of the patients and don’t require heavy equipment or even the need of electricity. He and his sons have named this program SPECS (Servants Providing Eye Care Services).
